Trip Participation Policies

All CSC Trip participants must adhere to the club's
 Trip and Activity Participation Policy

Columbia Ski Club (CSC) requires all members participating in trips and activities to follow current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), national, state, and local guidelines. This includes CDC guidelines for COVID-19, flu, other communicable illnesses, or other health guidelines that might arise.

Please refer to the CDC website for current guidelines: CDC - What To Do If You Were Exposed to COVID-19

For more information, please refer to the CSC-P0010 Health and Safety Policy and the CSC Health and Safety Requirements and Guidelines.

Instructions for Trip Registration or Wait-list Sign Ups:

To request a space on a Trip you must:

  1. Be a Columbia Ski Club Member,  Join CSC !  or a BRSC Member for BRSC trips.
  2. Submit a signed Trip Reservation Form  Ski Trip Reservation Form to the Assistant/Trip Leader.
  3. Submit a $500 deposit check, payable to Columbia Ski Club, to the Assistant/Trip Leader.

Tips for Timely Trip Reservation Processing:

  • Sign up in-person or by mail.  CSC is not responsible for mail delays.

  • Electronic signups are not available.

  • Mail the Trip Reservation Form and a deposit check to the appropriate Ski Trip Leader or bring it to the leader / assistant at a general meeting.  Sending your Trip Reservation Form to the club's PO Box will delay processing.
  • Make all checks payable to Columbia Ski Club.
  • Forms received without checks will not be processed.
  • Do not combine checks! The Membership check and Trip Deposit check must be separate checks.

What happens next:

  1. Preliminary signups remain open through the end of the Sales Kickoff Event (8pm on Monday, 6/9/2025)

  2. Participants will be notified that they are confirmed on the trip if the number of preliminary signups does not exceed the number of available slots.

  3. When the number of preliminary signups on a trip does exceed the number of available slots, a lottery will be held.

  4. Registrants who are not selected in the lottery will have the opportunity to be put on a Wait List OR may withdraw their registration.

Lottery Procedures:

If necessary, the random lottery will be completed by June 11th, under the direction of the Ski Trips Coordinator.  Everyone who complies with the CSC signup procedures (Steps 1 through 3) will have one entry in the lottery.  Potential trip participants can mutually designate one roommate on the Ski Trip Reservation Form to be paired with in the lottery.  If one of the two names is selected, the other will also be offered a spot on the trip if the roommate request is listed on both forms and there's an additional space available.  If there's only one space available, the requested roommate will be offered the first spot on the wait list.  If the mutual roommate request is not listed on both forms, only the person whose name is drawn will be added.

The Trip Leader, Assistant Leader, and up to one roommate for each are guaranteed spaces on the trip even if there is a lottery.  Requests to hold additional spaces for immediate family members of leaders can be made to the Ski Trips Coordinator for consideration.  These requests must be received 24 hours prior to the Trip Signup Social, and the decision will be made before the event begins.

CSC Trip Price Notes

  • Prices are subject to change due to airline surcharges, fuel surcharges or other unforeseen factors.
  • Airline baggage fees are the responsibility of the trip participant.
  • Trip packages are offered as part of a group trip. Trip leaders may add additional activities to their trip for the group as a whole. Individuals who require special conditions (such as lodging, meals, transportation, medical, etc.) must make those arrangements themselves.
  • International trip prices are subject to monetary changes in value of the US dollar vs. the currency of the host countries.
  • Trip Insurance is NOT included.  CSC strongly advises that trip participants purchase a Travel Insurance Policy.  A Travel Insurance Policy can protect travelers from unforeseen events and circumstances while they are traveling.  More information can be found here.
