If you want to know what it takes to be a candidate, then look at a description of CSC elected positions. Members may vote for as many as 3 candidates for directors.Running for President Elect:Deb McCuneSeventeen years ago I joined CSC to meet people to ski with. I was thrilled to learn the club also hiked because that was my favorite summer activity. Little did I know how much CSC would add to my life, and now it’s my turn to give back. We’re all busy people, so I’ll list just the highlights of my Club experience:
As a current director and past vice-president I have no learning curve and can immediately step into the role of President-elect. I will keep the focus of the club on ski trips and the “We Do More Than Ski” activities and trips. I will also encourage more volunteerism so others can reap the benefits like I have. I am proud to be a member of this club and would appreciate your vote. Running for Director: (listed alphabetically)Buzz BuntingHello, my fellow Columbia Ski Club members and friends. I would like to introduce myself as a member of this club for the last decade who is running for the Board of Directors. I joined back in the year 2000, and since that time I have witnessed some of the most exciting and wonderful ski trips, tours, parties and meetings as well. I have had the distinct pleasure of participating in these roles:
This club has so many things to offer, and has introduced me to a diverse group of friendly people who are always willing to pull together to help their fellow neighbors and friends through volunteerism and donations. It is in this vein that I would like to run for the elected office of the board. I would follow my belief that this club would continue its role as a beacon of the community in its endeavor to unite and support, as well as bring new and exciting adventures for its members to continually challenge and spur their own personal growth. Thank you for your support. Pat D'AdamoHello! I'm Pat D'Adamo and I'm a candidate for election to the Columbia Ski Club Board of Directors. Why would you vote for me? I've been an active member of CSC since 2005, having participated in ski trips for 4 years and numerous other activities during that time. I have also led activities and services for the club, including Dining Out's, a Gallery Walk in Frederick MD, and a Birthday Bash. Most notably, I conceived of and have led the Chili Cook-Off for the past two years as both a social event and as a means to collect donations for the Maryland Food Bank. I've especially enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in service activities, such as Food Bank collections, ushering at the Candlelight Concerts, participating in the International Coastal Clean-up, Dazzle Dash, Caroling at Brighton Gardens, Gift-Wrapping and Adopt-a-Road, and I took over leadership of the Adopt-a-Road activity last year. I also man the Commissary table at each CSC meeting to sell logo merchandise, and am currently serving as the Program Chair to assist with agendas and guest speakers for monthly meetings. Apart from CSC activities, I am a full-time Department of Defense employee with nearly 30 years of service. For half of my career, I have been a manager, leading complex missions and organizations numbering as many as 60 people. The leadership, decision-making and teamwork skills I've learned on the job will serve me well in a position on the board. I'm also a member of the West Virginia University Central Maryland Parent's Club and for three years have been the Transportation Chair, organizing round-trip bus travel for students during their three school-year breaks. On a personal note, I am engaged to our current CSC President , Rob Foard, and have two children, ages 25 and 21. I believe I can be an effective advocate for both skiers and non-skiers in the Columbia Ski Club, and ask you to consider voting for me. I welcome the opportunity to give back to the club and its membership. Thank you! Eliezer RichmondI have been a member of the Columbia Ski Club for 5 years and have become more active with each passing year. Most recently I was the Assistant Trip Leader for the ski trip to Stowe VT. I will apply as an Assistant Trip Leader for the 2010-2011 ski season. In the past I have helped with the Welcoming Committee. I attend the meetings and have gone on 1 or 2 ski trips a season. Also for the past two years I have been the Coordinator for local skiing at Whitetail and Wisp Mountain. I have served as a member of the Board of Directors for another organization (SETA – Singles Enjoying the Arts), as well as the Event Attendance Coordinator and a Scheduling Committee Member responsible for scheduling events throughout the year. I feel that I can make a positive contribution to the Board of Directors and would appreciate your vote. Joyce WronkaAt the time of the next election, it will be one year since my term as President of the Columbia Ski Club ended. The past year has been a semi-retirement for me from the club due to one medical problem after another. I am on the mend now, and it is time for me to start to getting involved in the workings of the club again. I am running for the position of Board member. I have held this position in the past and feel I have done a good job, always with the best interest of the club members in mind. I will not bore you with my ski club resume, I will just say that I have held many positions in the club -- except Treasurer (I need help balancing my own checkbook!). Having been a member for 19 years, I have the continued success of the club in mind. As my son said years ago when I first ran for the BOD: "Vote for Joyce, she is your best choice."
