01/24/2010 Sun	Hiking	Join a 10k walk through Canton, Fells Point and Little Italy on Sunday, January 24th starting from the Du Burns Arena in Canton at 9:45 am. Du Burns Arena, 1301 South Ellwood Ave., Baltimore. Directions: From the south take I-95 north toward Baltimore. Take exit 57 Baltimore Travel Plaza to O’Donnell-Boston Street. (Exit 57 is shortly after the toll plaza, on the right.) At the traffic light for Boston St., turn west toward downtown Baltimore. Drive approximately 1 mile to the Du Burns Arena on the right at the corner of Boston Street and Ellwood Ave.

Azul's food is traditional Mexican, made contemporary by the latest culinary techniques. The chef prepares everything in house. 02/12/2010 Fri	Nature	CANCELLED DUE TO BLIZZARD!: Cheap fish! Join fellow club members for an inexpensive evening at the Baltimore Aquarium. The date is Friday, February 12 and we will meet at the Aquarium ticket office at 6:00pm. Admission is only $8.00, and the optional dolphin show is an extra $4 .00. There is also a 4D movie for an additional $4.00. So do the math, it’s a real deal. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office or online at www.aqua.org. Note that the dolphin show can sell out that evening. We can ‘catch’ dinner nearby after our tour depending on what the group decides. So come join us, because you know the fish work hard to put on a good show.

"Shutter Island" is the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane. 02/26/2010 Fri	Nature	HOWARD COUNTY CONSERVANCY HOSTS 4th ANNUAL "AMERICAN CONSERVATION FILM FESTIVAL ON THE ROAD" - Friday and Saturday Nights, February 26 & 27, 2010. The ACFF and the Conservancy seek to educate moviegoers and inspire a connection with the natural environment. This year, we are pleased to feature ten short films, seven of which are specifically geared toward a younger audience and can be viewed on Friday, our family friendly night. The films begin at 7pm; the cost is $5 per person or $15 per family (Friday night features family friendly films). Light refreshments are included. For those that would like to car pool, let's meet at the Long Gate park and ride Rt 100 and Long Gate Drive at 10 a.m. For those who are not familar with dim sum. They are small plates of chinese food. The waitstaff comes around the dining room with carts full of small plates. Hot, cold, spicey, not spicey, plate sizes vary. It's fun and delicious. The next reading will be Thucydides: The Peloponnesian War, to Book II, 46 (approx. 115 pages). Call me at 410-964-0911 if interested. With his depth of mind and experience, Thucydides was not only one of the first, but one of the greatest writers of history. As Thomas Hobbes wrote, "For the principle and proper work of history being to instruct and enable men, by the knowledge of actions past, to bear themselves prudently in the present and providently towards the future," there is not any that more naturally and fully performs it than this work of Thucydides.

It is on a picturesque hilltop in Washington, and is the most significant historic site directly associated with Lincoln's presidency aside from the White House. We must purchase tickets in advance and will be collecting $12 at the March meeting. We will car pool from Dobbin Center. The meeting time will be determined based on ticket time slot availability.

The café features Native foods found throughout the Western Hemisphere, including the Northern Woodlands, South America, the Northwest Coast, Meso America, and the Great Plains. Each food station depicts regional lifeways related to cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavors found in both traditional and contemporary dishes.

Note the doors open at 6PM, we are used to 5PM on a Sunday night. The show "My Way, a Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra pays homage to this celebtated performer's influence on popular music. The show features renditons of Strangers in the Night; New York, New York; Chicago; That's Life; and of course My Way." Money will be collected at the April meeting (cost $40.50). 05/29/2009 Fri	Camping	Rob and Pat want to break in their new camper! Reservations have been made at Rocky Gap State Park for 2 wonderful nights of camping. The dates are Friday and Saturday, May 29th and 30th. The cost is $25.00 per night per campsite. We can put up to 2 tents or 1 trailer per site, so invite some friends and share a site or just share a good time. These are sites with no hook ups but the bathhouse and water fills are close by. There are several water crossings, which are usually fairly easy on rocks in the stream. We'll take a break by a pond and see if we can spot the resident turtle.

Lurman Woodland Theatre is an outdoor community amphitheater located in Catonsville Maryland. We have been bringing free concerts every weekend in June, July and August to this beautiful, naturally wooded setting year after year since 1992. We take pride in producing a program that includes many musical styles, from Barbershop to Bluegrass, Rock to Reggae, Country to Cajun, and more! Meet at 5:30 at the theater, the concert starts at 6:00 PM. Classic country music like it was played back then. They'll have you doing a boot scootin' two-step or snuggling up close for a buckle polishing slow tune. The sound is vintage country from the 1940s-1970s plus original roots songs written in that early country style.

06/14/2009 Sun	Biking	Bike Ride - Heritage Rail Trail (NCR Trail) from Seven Valley, PA to New Freedom, PA., about 12 miles. Easy ride on hard packed surface. The trail is 21 miles from the Maryland Line to York; anyone wanting a longer ride can add more. After the ride we can have a late lunch on the trail at Serenity-Station in Seven Valleys. Can carpool from various convenient locations. It’s about 60 miles from Snowden River to Church Street in Seven Valleys. We will plan on arriving in Seven Valleys about 10:15 am, leaving Columbia by 9 am. On the way home we can stop at Brown’s Orchard for fresh fruits, vegetables and awesome fresh bakery items. Bike helmets are required on all CSC bike rides.

The Club will be enjoying $2 beer and wine all night along with excellent food. They serve everything from traditional appetizers to steamed crabs and broiled crab cakes. Located right on the water it has ample room on the waterside deck (or inside in the large air conditioned dining room area) for everyone. 08/16/2009 Sun	Biking	The Lancaster Bicycle Club's 27th annual Covered Bridge Metric Century. These 100, 50 and 25 kilometer (62, 31 & 15 mile) rides wind their way through some of Pennsylvania's most famous rural scenery, including seven covered bridges. The terrain is rolling with a few hills on the 100K ride and flat to moderately rolling on the 50K & 25K rides. The rewards are stunning vistas of the richest farmland in America. Registration is $20. Children 12 and under are free. The fee covers lunch, water stops, sag wagons, cue sheets, road markings, ice cream and a general good time.

We will meet in front of Savage Mills (by the Rams Head) entrance at 6:00pm and ride approximate 14 miles around Lake Elkhorn and back. We can then congregate at Savage Mills for food and drink. Bring water, a bike helmet and bike lock. Bike helmets are required on all CSC rides.

This is a very rocky trail and strenuous hike. Bring extra $$ to chip in for carpool gas cost. Expected duration of this hike is 6 hours.

The Dazzle Dash Saturday Nov. 21 for runners / Sunday Nov. 22 for walkers. 1,000 runners are expected on the 21st, 5,000 walkers are expected on the 22nd. The Hospital needs more volunteers on Sunday due to the number of participants. On both days volunteers must report at 3:30 and stay until 6:00, course monitors stay until 8:30. (FYI - Both the Ravens and Redskins play at 1:00 that Sunday.)

11/22/2009 Sun	Hiking	Hike in Savage Park along the Wincopin Trail (Howard County). Moderate 4 or 7 mile hike along the Middle and Little Patuxent Rivers, easy except for a few hills and rocky parts. Stop after 4 miles, or continue an extra 3 with a lunch stop at the rapids near Savage Mill. Bring lunch and water. She has a lot to be thankful for this year, and she really wants to celebrate with friends. Come around 4:00 PM. Joyce will fix turkey and a few sides. Bring other dishes, appetizers, deserts, side dishes to go with the Turkey. She is still having trouble walking and standing, so assistance with food contributions is greatly appreciated. 12/25/2009 Fri	Service	The Symphony of Lights. Our 11th year of volunteering on Christmas night. We need 6 -10 people to greet guests, hand out give-aways, provide instructions and direct traffic. Volunteers must arrive by 5:30 and stay for the entire shift, until 10:00. Volunteers must come dressed for cold weather and be able to remain outside the majority of the time.
