Introducing the "No-Ski Trip Committee"

In an effort to boost the 'more than ski' facet of the Columbia Ski Club, a 'No-Ski Trip Committee' has been formed to oversee CSC trips that will not include any aspect of skiing. The first meeting of the committee was held on May 22. The purpose of this committee is not to come up with all of the ideas for group travel. The committee will meet approximately 4 times per year to review proposals by members of the CSC. When presenting a proposal for travel, it is expected that the trip will have been thoroughly researched and that you have obtained multiple cost quotes. We would also expect that the individual proposing the trip will have involvement in leading the trip. Subsequent to their review, the committee will make recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval.

The first trip review meeting will be held in late July. The date, time and location will be posted to the Web site. If you have any questions, please call Tina Dorn at 443-546-4124.

We can bring coolers and rent a tube to carry the cooler and stop and have lunch on the rocks. Price is approx.$28 for tube and shuttle bus. $10 if you have your own tube. 08/17/08 Sun	Biking	Lancaster Metric Century. These 100, 50 and 25 kilometer (62, 31 & 15 mile) rides wind their way through some of Pennsylvania's most famous rural scenery, including seven covered bridges. The terrain is rolling with a few hills on the 100K ride and flat to moderately rolling on the 50K & 25K rides. The rewards are stunning vistas of the richest farmland in America. Registration is $20. Children 12 and under are free. The fee covers lunch, water stops, sag wagons, cue sheets, road markings, ice cream and a general good time. 10/25/08 Sat	Hiking	Hike - Sugarloaf Mountain (Northern Peaks Trail). This is a moderate 5.5-mile hike with an elevation gain of 990 feet. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy the fall colors from the White Rock overlook! Pack your favorite snacks, a lunch, and water. Wear your hiking boots and dress appropriately for the weather. Meet at Dobbin at 9:00 a.m. to car pool. Please bring a few extra dollars to chip in for carpool gasoline costs. 10/26/08 Sun	Biking	Gettysburg country bike ride. Tour the picturesque countryside of Adams County around the town of Gettysburg. Our tour will ride quiet country roads, see historic farms, taverns and houses, and eat lunch beside the historic Sachs covered bridge over Marsh creek. The ride is approximately 32 miles with some hilly terrain. Bring water and lunch. Bike helemts are mandatory on all CSC rides. Meet at Dobbin Center at 8:30am. Bring garden gloves to wear and wear long sleeves. Reflective safety vests and garbage bags provided.
